A Vendor Review from the AANP Conference 2014

The Specifics about Aluminum-Free Deodorant and Antiperspirants

As we all know too well, everyone sweats. There is really no way around it. When either temperatures outdoors or our stress levels go up, so does the amount of sweat under our arms, causing an often uncomfortable and unpleasant odor that can be socially and professionally embarrassing at times. Most people have been “trained” to address this issue in life by using an antiperspirant and/or deodorant. These terms are often used interchangeably, but they are in fact two very different products. In fact, there are also differences in deodorants and antiperspirants as well – namely the recent onset of non-aluminum deodorants, while many are not free of aluminum, which more and more people are realizing is a danger to our health.

The Herbalix Approach to the Term Organic

There are many levels to organics. At Herbalix, we take a very cautious approach for our natural skin care products, noting only those ingredients that are certified organic. All of our organic ingredients are marked organic with an asterisk. We do not claim to use organic beeswax, or that our water is organic as well as our shea butter or rice bran – some things are not certifiable, according to our standards. This does not mean that they are not naturally organic, just difficult to certify.

Aluminum Safety: Why You Should You Use a Non-Aluminum Deodorant

There are over 2000 references in the National Library of Medicine on adverse effects of aluminum. Research reveals that there are more than 30 known diseases that can be attributed to aluminum in some aspect. Today there is a conundrum concerning safety issues surrounding aluminum in our society. But many people are not aware of the seriousness of these issues. This research also points out that the aluminum salts used in most antiperspirants have detrimental effects to mice, dogs, and non-human primates. If this is true, what is it doing to humans? Should we be worried enough to begin using a non aluminum deodorant?
